Icesave Referendum in Iceland 6 March 2010

Icesave was the internet banking operation of Landsbanki. By offering high interest rates, this racket attracted lots of deposits in England and Netherlands. Money "disappeared", causing the collapse of the operation. England and Netherlands want the working people of Iceland to pay for the losses. But are careful not to mention the billionaires who ran this racket. This is the story of economic parasitism on a massive scale.

"Landsbanki – the National Bank of Iceland – was privatized a few years ago and sold to a father-son team, Björgólfur Guðmundsson and his son Björgólfur Thór Björgólfsson." (Where are the owners of Landsbanki?, The Iceland Weather Report)

WIFE FROM SOLID JEWISH FAMILY

Mr. Guðmundsson married Thora Hallgrimsson. She was well connected: "Her father was head of Shell Iceland; one uncle was an ambassador to the United States in the 1940s, while another the prime minister on five occasions up to 1963. Her former husband, George Lincoln Rockwell, with whom she had four children, founded the American Nazi Party in 1959". (Jamie Jackson, He's the real thing, The Observer, 2 Sep 2007) Readers will want to learn about Shell's founder, who was involved in shipping, here.

SHIPPING MAGNATE CAUSES "NATIONAL SCANDAL"

Just like Mr. Guðmundsson, who came into ownership of "Hafskip was Iceland's second-largest shipping line before its collapse which became a national scandal." (Hafskip, Wikipedia)

And how could a shipping company "collapse"?

IMPECCABLE CREDENTIALS

"In May 1986, police arrested Björgólfur Gudmundsson and serveral other executies of Hafskip in early-morning raids on their homes."

EXPERIENCED EMBEZZLER

"Björgólfur Gudmundsson was also charged with embezzling sums from the company's cheque accounts and charging personal costs to the company."

LOOTED ICELANDIC COMPANY HAFSKIP

"He was also charged with embezzling bills of exchange from the company's portfolio for his personal benefit." "Björgólfur and the other defendants were found guilty of these charges by the Icelandic supreme court judges - but only partly so.

COOKED THE BOOKS / AND NOT TOO SAD ABOUT IT

In preparation of the misleading first eight-month figures and full-year accounts of 1984, the defendants were found to have violated articles of the Companies Act, but not the more serious General Penal Code.

CONVICTED OF FRAUD

Björgólfur Gudmundsson was found to have violated the General Penal Code over several counts of embezzlement, two of which involved fraud." (Questions over Landsbanki's new shareholder, Euromoney, 1 Nov 2002)

MAJOR SOCIAL ILL IN JEWISH COMMUNITY

"An article by Professor Benjamin Akzin, a leading Israeli legal authority, can serve as the last and most recent example of the persistence of the concept of Jewish parasitism. One of the three major social ills which endanger the very existence of the State of lsrael (the other two being the social gulf between the Ashkenazi and the Oriental Jews, and the lack of devotion to the state and to the national vision the state is destined to realize), parasitism, Akzin says, has reached the dimensions of a mass epidemic. Its four major manifestations are: (1) The parasitism of those who spend their work ing hours trying to do as little as possible; (2) the parasitism of those who do not want to work at all and live on aid and charity; (3) the parasitism of those who engage in criminal activities and form a large "underworld" sector; and

DR. AKZIN CONDEMNS
GUðMUNDSSSON'S CRIMES

(4) the parasitism of corruption and fraud."
(Raphael Patai, The Jewish mind, Wayne State University Press, 1996, p 460)

AND DR. AKZIN SPOKE OF KNOWLEDGE

"Israelis may remember Benjamin Akzin (1904-1985) as a distinguished academic who served as dean of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Faculty of Law, president of Haifa University, and recipient of the 1967 Israel Prize."

WELL QUALIFIED / CERTIFIED

"After completing doctorates in political science and law at the universities of Vienna and Paris, the Latvian-born Akzin traveled to the United States in the 1930s to complete a third doctorate at Harvard." (Rafael Medoff, The man who wanted to bomb Auschwitz, The Jerusalem Post, 7 Jul 2004)

CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES / LARGE UNDERWORLD SECTOR

As established by the Iceland courts, Mr. Guðmundsson has engaged in criminal activities. (Questions over Landsbanki's new shareholder, Euromoney, 1 Nov 2002) The "parasitism of corruption and fraud" (as per Benjamin Akzin cited in Raphael Patai, The Jewish mind, Wayne State University Press, 1996, p 460) component has been well established, but what about underworld activity? (as per Benjamin Akzin cited in Raphael Patai, The Jewish mind, Wayne State University Press, 1996, p 460)

When the Russian industries were privatized, and other wealthy Jewish oligarchs like Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev were lining up billion-dollar fortunes, Mr. Guðmundsson and his son Björgólfur Thór Björgólfsson came over from Iceland to help.

ICELANDIC TV: RUSSIAN MAFIA MONEY

"TV-station Stöd 2 asked yesterday on its evening news broadcast if it is Russian mafia money that's financing Icelandic expansion abroad.

The question was provoked by an article that appeared yesterday in the British daily Guardian titled "Next-generation Viking invasion" by Ian Griffiths (http://www.guardian.co.uk).

Prompted by rumors about Icelanders preparing a bid for British retailer Marks & Spencer, Griffiths, who was selected Business Journalist of the Year at the 2005 British Press Awards, asks "They've got the cash to buy big UK groups like M&S. But where does it come from?"

UNDERWORLD DIDN'T TROUBLE THESE MEN!

Griffiths finds the rags to riches story of three Icelanders in post-communist Russia incredible. While their

BUT ETHNIC RUSSIAN COMPETITORS WERE NOT SO LUCKY

competitors in St. Petersburg's mafia-ridden brewing business were being murdered or having their factories mysteriously burned down during the 1990's, Björgólfur Thor Björgólfsson, Björgólfur Guðmundsson and Magnús Thorsteinsson escaped not only unscathed out of Russia but also, they claim, with piles of money after selling their Bravo International brewery to Heineken for USD 400 million in 2002.

WAITED FOR THINGS TO CALM DOWN AFTER THE LAST FRAUD CONVICTIONS

Returning to Iceland in 2002, the threesome purchased a controlling share in state bank Landsbanki in a controversial sale." (Russian mafia financing Icelandic expansion abroad?, Iceland Review Online, 17 Jun 2005)

GLOBAL ORGANIZATION

"After avoiding any use of the term “Russian mafia” in the last few years, law enforcement personnel in Europe and elsewhere are now speaking about it again, noting that it includes “up to 300,000 people” and dominates the criminal world in many countries around the world, according to a Moscow investigative journalist." (Paul Goble, 'Russian Mafia' Abroad Now 300,000 Strong, Journal Says, The Moscow Times, 2 Mar 2010)

And this is something new? That came out of nowhere?

"During the ninth century, the Persian geographer lbn Khurradadhbih described the prodigious trading network of Jews from Radhan, a neighborhood of Baghdad, who journeyed across North Africa and the whole Eurasian landmass from France and Spain in the west to India and China in the east, crisscrossing the continents from north to south.

LEARNING MANY LANGUAGES - LIKE ICELANDIC, AND RUSSIAN

These Radhanites had learned many of the languages spoken within this vast territory and traded in commodities as diverse as swords, brocade, eunuchs, and slaves from the west, to spices, perfumes, and precious woods from the east. The Radhanites were fortunate to be able to rely on the local knowledge of Jews living across both continents." (Myer Samra, Migration Patterns of Iraqi Jews in M. Avrum Ehrlich, Editor, Encyclopedia of the Jewish Diaspora - Origins, Experiences, and Culture, ABC-CLIO, 2008, p 354)

"Middle Eastern Jews continued to participate extensively in international trade during the medieval period" (Myer Samra, Migration Patterns of Iraqi Jews in M. Avrum Ehrlich, Editor, Encyclopedia of the Jewish Diaspora - Origins, Experiences, and Culture, ABC-CLIO, 2008, p 354)

FROM MEDIEVAL PERIOD TO 2002

"Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the flamboyant head of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia and vice speaker of the Duma, says that none of this information justifies any suggestion that there is a Russian mafia operating abroad let alone implying that Moscow is somehow responsible for it.

“Yes,” Zhirinovsky acknowledges, “people from the republics of the former USSR really occupy an important position in the international criminal community, and in recent years this position can even be called a dominant one. But here is one ‘but’: Many of these people already have been living abroad for a long time” (Paul Goble, 'Russian Mafia' Abroad Now 300,000 Strong, Journal Says, The Moscow Times, 2 Mar 2010)

THOR BJORGOLFSSON ALREADY "LIVING ABROAD FOR A LONG TIME"

"Other notable foreigners calling London home include Iceland's richest citizen Thor Bjorgolfsson". (Mumbai is world's 7th largest billionaire city: Forbes, Press Trust of India, 6 May 2008 )

FOREIGN PASSPORTS

"and have exchanged Russian passports for foreign ones." (Paul Goble, 'Russian Mafia' Abroad Now 300,000 Strong, Journal Says, The Moscow Times, 2 Mar 2010) Björgólfur Thór Björgólfsson uses Cyprus paperwork when traveling. "We learn that most of these Russian emigrés are Jews who claim persecution in Russia. They may be Jews, but the dons of the Russian Mafiya are also hardened ex-cons from the Russian gulag". (flakmagazine review of Red Mafiya by Robert I. Friedman (Little, Brown and Company))

RHADANIYA 2010

In other words, Mr. Björgólfsson has a philosophy of business not too unlike that of his brethren from Baghdad.

LEARNING BY EXAMPLE

He learned some things from his father, Mr. Guðmundsson. "He chose to go to the United States in 1986 rather than join the family firm, Hafskip, which was at the time embroiled in a financial scandal involving fraud and embezzlement." (Who is Thor Bjorgolfsson, Iceland's lone billionaire?, INVgr) That is, the fraud and embezzlement of his father. (Questions over Landsbanki's new shareholder, Euromoney, 1 Nov 2002)

Maybe Mr. Björgólfsson could plug into the Rhadhan network in the USA? He did.

AT HOME IN NEW YORK WITH HIS OWN PEOPLE

"In 1991, he graduated from New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business." (Who is Thor Bjorgolfsson, Iceland's lone billionaire?, INVgr) "NYU was ranked the No. 1 private school in the most recent "Top 60 Schools Jews Choose" survey by Reform Judaism Magazine.

The university has the highest Jewish undergraduate population on the list with 6,000 students, followed by Boston University, Yeshiva University and Cornell University." (Lindsay Macklin, NYU is rated first for Jewish students, NYUNews.com, 14 Oct 2009)

WELL QUALIFIED FOR THE MONEY LENDING BUSINESS

Björgólfur Guðmundsson and his son Björgólfur Thór Björgólfsson possessed impeccable credentials for the moneylending business. They had success in the alcohol trade. Cashed out. And were looking for more.

ICELANDIC/HEBREW COMPANY

And so they used "Samson eignarhaldsfelag ehf" to take control of Landsbanki. "Samson is an investment holding vehicle of Iceland's wealthiest family, led by Björgólfur Gudmundssons, who also serves as Landsbanki chairman". (New Landsbanki Íslands hf., answers.com)

The original Samson was also Hebrew (Judges 13:2, 24, Holy Bible):

MASS KILLING AND PLUNDER / CLEANED THEM OUT

"He went down to Ashkelon, struck down thirty of their men, stripped them of their belongings and gave their clothes to those who had explained the riddle." (Judges 14:19, Holy Bible)

The Iceland government had fair warning of what these Jewish businessmen had in mind with their Samson project. And they went ahead and gave away the bank to the Samson crew anyway.

THOSE WARNING FLAGS

After four years of Samson (mis)management, Landsbanki was tottering. "Landsbanki's aggressive entry into the UK savings market in October 2006 was a response to mounting credit concerns about Icelandic financial institutions in the bond markets. Reports had begun to appear in financial circles, warning that these firms were heavily reliant on short-term funding from the wholesale bond markets, and that in the event of a shock they were too big for the state to bail out. Reflecting fears of trouble ahead, the cost of insuring bank bonds rose sharply." (Simon Bowers, How the Icesave crisis left British deposits in limbo, guardian.co.uk, 5 Mar 2010)

SAMSON TEAM GETS VERY RICH

"By 2007 Gudmundsson's fortune had propelled him and his son, Björgólfur Thor Björgólfsson – known as Thor – on to Forbes magazine's international billionaires list. Their joint control of Landsbanki meant Thor was said to be the 249th richest person in the world, with a fortune worth $3.5bn. His father was ranked 799th."

"SHYLOCK

When Jacob grazed his uncle Laban's sheep--
This Jacob from our holy Abram was,
As his wise mother wrought in his behalf,
The third possessor; ay, he was the third--
ANTONIO
And what of him? did he take interest?
SHYLOCK

No, not take interest, not, as you would say,
Directly interest: mark what Jacob did.
When Laban and himself were compromised
That all the eanlings which were streak'd and pied
Should fall as Jacob's hire, the ewes, being rank,
In the end of autumn turned to the rams,
And, when the work of generation was
Between these woolly breeders in the act,
The skilful shepherd peel'd me certain wands,
And, in the doing of the deed of kind,
He stuck them up before the fulsome ewes,
Who then conceiving did in eaning time
Fall parti-colour'd lambs, and those were Jacob's.
This was a way to thrive, and he was blest:
And thrift is blessing, if men steal it not."
(Act I, Scene I, The Merchant of Venice (William Shakespeare))

And so Björgólfur Guðmundsson and Björgólfur Thór Björgólfsson were "blest".

But as these wealthy Jewish bankers were being blest, their bank was really short on cash.

THE BANK WAS IN SERIOUS TROUBLE

"Landsbanki's chief executive, Sigurjón Árnason, the architect of Icesave, explained in early 2007 how easy it had been to avert a wholesale funding crisis by turning to UK savers: "What we considered a permanent solution was simply not being as dependent on the financial markets.

RAKING IN THE DOUGH

"One solution is raising deposits ... We stumbled upon the idea to create internet accounts with higher interest rates than usual, which would in that way advertise themselves, since advertising is expensive ... All I have to do is to check at the end of the day how much money has come in – £50m was deposited only last Friday."" (Simon Bowers, How the Icesave crisis left British deposits in limbo, guardian.co.uk, 5 Mar 2010)

The Samson team knew what to do with this money. Junior had learned his lessons at NYU. Senior did the Hafskip job. And together they'd done that job in Russia with their friends and relatives.

Well, what did they do with the money?

FROM HAFSKIP TO ICESAVE

"Britain’s Serious Fraud Office will formally begin its investigation into the operations of the failed Icelandic banks Glitnir, Kaupthing and Landsbanki in the United Kingdom.

RADHANIYA

The investigation will especially focus on loans which several known individuals received from the banks, sources for The Observer within the SFO claim.

BUSINESS AS USUAL

Initial investigations have been underway since February into financial crimes and market abuses allegedly carried out by the banks, and the SFO has been collecting reams of information on the operations of the Icelandic banks in Britain." (SFO to begin formal Iceland investigation, IceNews, 14 Dec 2009)

AND THEN WORD GOT OUT

"In early October 2008, at the nadir of the global financial crisis,

GENERAL PUBLIC GETS INFORMATION IN 2008 THAT FINANCE EXPERTS HAD IN 2006

a vicious run on UK deposits began at Icesave, the online bank account operated by Landsbanki, amid

THE MONEY WAS GONE

international panic about the solvency of Icelandic financial institutions
. It led to the website being shut down and savers left in the dark over the weekend. British retail depositors, charities, councils and other public institutions had

LOTS OF MONEY

£6bn they could not reach
." (Simon Bowers, How the Icesave crisis left British deposits in limbo, guardian.co.uk, 5 Mar 2010)

"3 Samson said to them, "This time I have a right to get even with the Philistines; I will really harm them." 4 So he went out and caught three hundred foxes and tied them tail to tail in pairs. He then fastened a torch to every pair of tails, 5

DESTROYED THE ECONOMY

lit the torches and let the foxes loose in the standing grain of the Philistines. He burned up the shocks and standing grain, together with the vineyards and olive groves." (Judges 15, Holy Bible)

ENGLAND: CLOSING BARN DOOR AFTER HORSES HAVE RUN OFF

"The UK Treasury stepped in where Iceland refused to do so, with a full deposit guarantee for 229,000 British retail savers.

BUT SAMSON HAD ALREADY BURNED UP THE "STANDING GRAIN"

Meanwhile emergency laws were deployed to freeze Landsbanki assets in the UK." (Simon Bowers, How the Icesave crisis left British deposits in limbo, guardian.co.uk, 5 Mar 2010) Of course, there was money missing from Landsbanki in Iceland as well. And so "The island’s economy shrank an annual 9.1 percent in the fourth quarter of last year, the statistics office said on March 5, and contracted 6.5 percent in 2009 as a whole.

Household debt with major credit institutions has doubled in the past five years and reached about 1.8 trillion kronur ($14 billion) in 2009, compared with the island’s $12 billion gross domestic product, according to the central bank.

Icelanders, the world’s fifth-richest per capita as recently as 2007, ended 2009 18 percent poorer and will see their disposable incomes decline a further 10 percent this year, the central bank estimates." (Omar R. Valdimarsson, Icelanders Reject Icesave Bill in Referendum, Results Show, Bloomberg, 6 Mar 2010) "I will really harm them". (Samson cited in Judges 15:3, Holy Bible)

SOMEBODY HAS TO PAY

After the various governments took over the Landsbanki operations, there was a hole of at least 6 billion dollars. Money that people had put into the bank, but which was now "gone".

England and Netherlands want to collect $5.3 billion for the losses suffered when the Icesave racket went under. (Omar R. Valdimarsson, Icelanders Reject Icesave Bill in Referendum, Results Show, Bloomberg, 6 Mar 2010) We learned here about the management of England.

"BUT WE'LL NOT BOTHER OUR RADHAN BROTHER"

So it will come as no surprise that they are not bothering their Radhan brother Björgólfur Thór Björgólfsson, who lives in England, for the money. No, the Radhaniya would like the people of Iceland to pay this money.

But the people of Iceland don't want to. There was a vote on 6 March 2010, and at least 93% of the people said, No way!! "“Ordinary people, farmers and fishermen, taxpayers, doctors, nurses, teachers, are being asked to shoulder through their taxes a burden that was created by irresponsible greedy bankers,” said President Olafur R. Grimsson, whose rejection of the bill resulted in the plebiscite, in a Bloomberg Television interview on March 5."(Omar R. Valdimarsson, Icelanders Reject Icesave Bill in Referendum, Results Show, Bloomberg, 6 Mar 2010) "Indeed, general medieval histories, if they mention Jews at all, refer to them almost exclusively as money-lenders or involved in slavery". (Norman Roth, Medieval Jewish civilization: an encyclopedia, Routledge, 2003, p 189) The president of Iceland is Icelandic. He's calling the money lenders greedy.

The people don't want to be slaves.

SO WHAT DO ALL THESE BANKERS THINK OF THE ICELANDIC PEOPLE

"I hate him for he is a Christian, But more for that in low simplicity He lends out money gratis and brings down
The rate of usance here with us in Venice.

WHEN THEY GET THEIR CHANCE -- WHICH THEY DID

If I can catch him once upon the hip, I will feed fat the ancient grudge I bear him.

I WONDER WHY

He hates our sacred nation, and he rails, Even there where merchants most do congregate,
On me, my bargains and my well-won thrift,
Which he calls interest.

SO WILL THEY FORGIVE AND FORGET?

Cursed be my tribe, If I forgive him!"
(Shylock cited in Act I, Scene I, The Merchant of Venice (William Shakespeare))joomla 1.5 stats

"Failure to reach an agreement on the bill has left Iceland’s International Monetary Fund-led loan in limbo and prompted Fitch Ratings to cut its credit grade to junk. Moody’s Investors Service and Standard & Poor’s have signaled they may follow suit if no settlement is reached." (Omar R. Valdimarsson, Icelanders Reject Icesave Bill in Referendum, Results Show, Bloomberg, 6 Mar 2010) "Indeed, general medieval histories, if they mention Jews at all, refer to them almost exclusively as money-lenders or involved in slavery". (Norman Roth, Medieval Jewish civilization: an encyclopedia, Routledge, 2003, p 189)

Or both.
